Fatima Mansions
In 2004 €150 million was provided for the redevelopment of the Fatima Mansions Flats complex. This will allow for the demolition of all the flat blocks and a first phase of 110 social housing units.There is also Masterplan approval for the intended development of the balance of the site which will involve the construction of over 500 homes complete with the provision of community, sports facilities and commercial units. The first 5 blocks have already been demolished.
St Michael’s Estate, Inchicore
In 2005, €150m was provided for the redevelopment of St Michael’s Estate, Inchicore. The 14-acre site will eventually include 700 residential units, community facilities and commercial retail space. The ambitious undertaking includes the original 11-acre St Michael's residential site plus 3 acres to the front facing onto Emmet Road near the centre of Inchicore. It is a prime Dublin 8 location close to extensive redevelopment going on opposite Kilmainham Jail and other nearby residential schemes.
Bridgefoot Street Flats
In Feb 2006 the demolition of the remaining flats at Bridgefoot Street in Dublin was commenced. Work already completed includes the demolition of two flat blocks and their replacement with 56 own door duplex houses and the refurbishment of a four story block to provide 33 newly refurbished flats at a total cost of €16 million. This work was fully funded by the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government.The final phase of this redevelopment provides for the demolition of the remaining empty flat blocks and their replacement with private and affordable housing along with the construction of a community facility for the area on a Public Private Partnership basis.
Voluntary Housing
Oaklee Housing Trust.
In September 2005 a €22.4m voluntary housing project was undertaken by Oaklee Housing Trust. The Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government approved grants of €2.9m for 16 units of accommodation at Fountain View under the Capital Assistance Scheme and a further €19.5m for the provision of 76 units of accommodation under the Capital Loan and Subsidy Scheme at James Street through Dublin City Council.

Housing Estate Enhancement Schemes.
This scheme aims to enhance the physical environment within local authority housing estates and flat complexes in RAPID areas. Works such as landscaping, paving, improvement of open spaces, seating areas, lighting, boundary walls and works to make open spaces in flat complexes amenable to recreational use are being undertaken in Dublin South Central.
